In these regulations, "Act" means the Notaries Public Act . 103/23 s1 Back to Top Use of audio-visual technology 3. Where a notary public witnesses a document in accordance with section 6 of the Act or administers an oath, an affirmation or a declaration in accordance with section 8 of the Act through the use of audio-visual technology, the notary public shall (a) take all reasonable steps to verify the identity of the person signing the document, oath, affirmation or declaration; (b) state on the document, oath, affirmation or declaration that it was witnessed through the use of audio-visual technology in accordance with the Act and these regulations; and (c) comply with the requirements in the Law Society Rules of Newfoundland and Labrador related to the witnessing of documents through the use of audio-visual technology. 103/23 s3
