Statute overview

About this statute

This Act sets up public health administration powers, inspection authority, and rules for orders to address health hazards. This part gives the Chief Public Health Officer and Minister wide public-health powers, and places duties on food operators, water-system operators, health care professionals, and people handling certain human remains. Public health orders must be written, state reasons, and be served on the person they target. Affected people may appeal within 30 days, and violations can lead to offences, fines, or imprisonment.
