Statute overview

About this statute

This part sets up the vital statistics register, appoints the Registrar General and related officers, and gives the Registrar General authority to manage records and an electronic database. This part sets out who must submit birth registration paperwork, when the Registrar General must register a birth, and when the Registrar General may amend or cancel registration records. This part sets rules for amending and registering birth, stillbirth, marriage, and death records, and restricts disclosure of the special register. This provision sets rules for death registration, burial and reburial permits, records, name-change notations, certificates, and access to sealed records. This provision gives the Registrar General information-sharing, statistical, fee-waiver, and related administrative powers, requires approved forms, and prohibits knowingly false or improper use of registration documents.
