Statute overview

About this statute

This part sets rules for petroleum interests, including who may issue them, when bids are required, and how representatives, notices, and temporary work stoppages work. This provision sets rules for petroleum exploration, discovery declarations, licence terms, drilling orders, and production licences. This provision covers production licences, royalties, and the Environmental Studies Research Fund. It sets licence timing and extension rules, requires royalty payments and reporting by production-licence holders, and creates a fund and board to support environmental and social studies. This part lets the Minister set rates, requires interest owners to pay prescribed amounts into sub-accounts, and creates rules for notice, registration, and security notices. The Minister, the Regulator, and sometimes the Committee can keep certain information confidential, but they must also publish specified information on the timing rules set out here.
