Statute overview

About this statute

This part sets out who may seek guardianship, what must accompany the application, notice and explanation duties, and when the Court may appoint a guardian or temporary guardian. This provision sets rules for guardianship and trusteeship orders, including what powers a guardian may get, what duties a guardian must follow, when orders can be reviewed or extended, and when a trustee can be appointed. The provision lets a trustee manage a represented person’s estate in listed ways, but bars making a will for the represented person. This provision restricts disclosure of certain reports, creates an offence and fine for breaches, protects good-faith reporters from liability, lets some people appeal Court orders, and gives the Court and Commissioner regulation-making and leave-granting powers.
