The Lieutenant Governor in Council may appoint the King’s Printer and make regulations. The King’s Printer must publish specified government materials, follow directions from the President of the Executive Council, and file a report before each legislative session.

Appointment of King’s Printer The Lieutenant Governor in Council may appoint a King’s Printer for the province, and fix the salary and prescribe the duties pertaining to the office. King’s Printer The King’s Printer shall be an officer who, under the direction of the President of the Executive Council, shall perform the duties assigned to the King’s Printer by law or by the Lieutenant Governor in Council. Royal Gazette There shall continue to be an official gazette of the province known as the Royal Gazette, in this Act referred to as the Gazette. R.S.P.E.I. 1974, Cap. Q-1, s.4. 4. Publications by (1) The King’s Printer shall print and publish or cause to be printed and published (a) the statutes of the province and regulations made thereunder; (b) the Journal of the Legislative Assembly; (c) the Gazette; and (d) all such official, departmental, and other reports, books, forms, documents and papers as are required to be printed by law or otherwise at the expense of the province. Publication by authority (2) Whatever is printed under the supervision of the King’s Printer shall be held to be printed by the King’s Printer. R.S.P.E.I. 1974, Cap. Q-1, s.5; 2022,c.80,s.15. 5. Matters to be published in Gazette All advertisements, notices, and documents whatever relating to matters within the control of the Legislature and that are by any law required to be published, shall be published in the Gazette unless any other mode of publication is prescribed by law. Prima facie evidence of documents All copies of proclamations, official and other notices, advertisements, and documents printed in the Gazette shall be prima facie evidence of the originals, and the contents thereof, and all c t Current to: December 1, 2022 Page 3 Section 7 King's Printer Act copies printed or purporting to be so printed shall be held to be so and shall in all courts and proceedings be admitted in evidence without proof as the originals might be. Report by King’s Printer The King’s Printer shall, before the opening of each session of the Legislative Assembly, make a report to the President of the Executive Council on the operation of the office of the King’s Printer for the preceding fiscal year. Regulations (1) For the purpose of carrying into effect the provisions of this Act according to their true intent or of supplying any deficiency therein, the Lieutenant Governor in Council may make such regulations not inconsistent with the spirit of this Act as are considered necessary or advisable. Idem (2) Without thereby limiting the generality of the provisions contained in subsection (1) the Lieutenant Governor in Council may make regulations (a) prescribing the conditions of the publication of the Gazette; (b) establishing the tariff of charges to be paid for the publication of notices, advertisements, and documents in the Gazette; (c) prescribing the amount of the subscription to the Gazette; (d) establishing the tariff of charge to be paid for any other document.
