About this statute

This part defines key water-law terms and sets out major rules on approvals, pollution controls, ministerial powers, monitoring, reports, and water management areas. This segment limits water withdrawals and wastewater activity, restricts well and system work without regulatory permission, and gives the Minister and officers strong enforcement powers. This part lets the Lieutenant Governor in Council make regulations for the Act, and requires the Minister to seek public input and refer major new or amended regulations to a Legislative Assembly committee before enactment.
