W-4.1, Council made the following regulations: 1. Definitions In these regulations (a) “Act” means the Wildlife Conservation Act R.S.P.E.I. 1988, Cap. W-4.1; (b) “license” means a license issued under section 2. (EC705/04) 2. Snowshoe hare snaring license (1) The Minister may issue a snowshoe hare snaring license to an applicant who (a) makes an application on a form approved by the Minister; (b) is at least 12 years of age; (c) pays the prescribed fee set out in subsection (6); and (d) is not precluded from making an application under subsection (2). License suspended (2) A person whose current license is suspended under subsection 31(2) of the Act may not make an application for a new license under subsection (1) until the suspension has expired. Duration (3) A license expires on March 31 following the date the license was issued. Authorization to snare (4) A license authorizes the holder, during the term of the license, to snare snowshoe hares, subject to the Act and these regulations. Prohibition (5) No person shall snare or attempt to snare snowshoe hare unless the person holds a snowshoe hare snaring license. Prescribed fee (6) The prescribed fee payable for a license application is $5.00 (HST not included). Wire gauge (1) No person shall set a snare for snowshoe hare unless the snare is made of a single strand of copper or brass wire, commonly known as rabbit wire, that is of 20 gauge or 0.812 mm (0.032 inches) or smaller. Wire loop (2) No person shall set a snare for snowshoe hare with a wire loop greater than 10 cm (4 inches) in diameter. (EC705/04; 519/11) 4.
