Interpretation 2 In these regulations: (a) “Act” means The Tourism Authority Act; (b) “organization” means an organization mentioned in subsection 3(2) of the Act. 4 Jly 97 SR 46/97 s3. DESIGNATED AND APPROVED ORGANIZATIONS Designated organizations 3 For the purposes of subsection 3(2) of the Act: (a) Repealed. 4 Jly 97 SR 46/97 s4. (b) the organization that represents Saskatchewan’s hotel and motel industry is the Hotels Association of Saskatchewan; (c) the organization that represents Saskatchewan’s tourist outfitting industry is the Saskatchewan Outfitters Association; (d) the organization that represents Saskatchewan First Nations is the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations; (e) the organization that represents Saskatchewan’s Métis people is the Métis Nation - Saskatchewan Secretariat Inc.; (f) the organizations that represent Saskatchewan’s heritage, arts and multicultural communities are the SaskCulture Inc. and the Saskatchewan Arts Alliance; (g) the organization that represents Regina’s tourism industry is the Regina Convention & Visitors Bureau; (h) the organization that represents Saskatoon’s tourism industry is the Saskatoon Visitor and Convention Bureau; 4 T-15.01 REG 1 TOURISM AUTHORITY (i) the organizations that represent Saskatchewan’s tourism regions are the following: (i) Northern Saskatchewan Tourism Inc.; (ii) Saskatchewan Southwest Tourism Association Inc.; (iii) The Saskatchewan West Central Tourism Association Inc.; (iv) East Central Sk. Other organizations 4 The following classes of organizations are prescribed for the purposes of clause 3(2)(k) of the Act: (a) organizations whose activities directly have an impact on or support tourism development in Saskatchewan; (b) organizations that are tourism or convention bureaus; (c) organizations that are regional or destination tourism associations; (d) organizations that are departments or agencies of the Government of Canada, the Government of Saskatchewan or a municipal government whose programs and policies have an impact on tourism; (e) organizations that are tourism corridor associations. 4 Jly 97 SR 46/97 s5. Rescinding of membership 4.1 The board may rescind a person’s membership if: (a) any of the following circumstances occur: (i) the body or organization appointing or selecting the person as a member has failed to pay: (A) that person’s membership fee prescribed pursuant to section 6 of the Act; or (B) any amounts owing by the body or organization to the authority within a reasonable period set out by the authority in a written request to the body or organization by the authority to pay those amounts; 5 TOURISM AUTHORITY T-15.01 REG 1 (ii) in the case of an organization that selected a member pursuant to clause 3(2)(k) of the Act, the organization ceases to belong to a class of organizations prescribed pursuant to section 4 and the board has given that organization an opportunity to be heard before voting to rescind the membership; (iii) the member has failed to attend three consecutive general meetings; and (b) a majority of the board members present vote to rescind the membership. 4 Jly 97 SR 46/97 s5; 13 Apr 2006 SR 31/2006 s4. MEMBERS Terms of members 5(1) A member holds office for a term of two years. (2) If a member resigns or ceases to hold office for any reason, the organization that selected the former member may: (a) select another person to be a member for the duration of the term of the former member; or (b) choose to have the former member’s position as member remain vacant until the end of the former member’s term. (3) A member is eligible to be reappointed or reselected. 4 Jly 97 SR 46/97 s6. BOARD MEMBERS Terms of board members 6(1) Subject to subsection (3), a board member holds office only while he or she serves as a member. (2) Subject to subsection (4), if a board member resigns as a member or ceases to be a member for any reason: (a) that board member ceases to be a board member; and (b) the organization that selected the member may select another of its members to hold office as a board member for the duration of the term of the board member who resigned or ceased to hold office. (3) A board member elected in accordance with clause 11(1)(d) of the Act holds office for a term of the term set by the members at the time the board member is elected, to a maximum of two years. 6 T-15.01 REG 1 TOURISM AUTHORITY (4) If a board member mentioned in subsection (3) resigns as a board member or ceases to hold office for any reason, the office of that board member is to remain vacant until the next meeting of the authority at which board members are to be elected.
