Statute overview

About this statute

This Act sets out forest planning rules, defines key terms, and requires the Minister to consult and act on forest resources management plans in certain planning areas. This part lets the Minister change or end forest plans, and sets notice, request, and consultation steps. It also regulates harvesting licences, cutting permits, security, audits, and limits on harvesting and licence terms. This provision sets rules for community forests, processing facilities, road construction and enforcement powers, including permits, orders, inspections, and compliance actions. This part lets forest officers and justices search, seize, and forfeit things connected with offences, and sets rules for offences, fines, and licence consequences. The Minister can designate the Director, delegate or withdraw delegated powers and duties, and must establish a review process within five years after the Act starts. A person affected by a Director decision may appeal to the Minister or the Minister’s delegate. The Commissioner in Executive Council fixes the commencement day or days.
