Statute overview

About this statute

The Act sets when Yukon projects must undergo environmental assessment and who must carry it out. This provision sets out Yukon environmental assessment steps for screening reports, comprehensive studies, mediation, and review panels, including public notice, comment, mitigation, and decision rules. This part sets conditions for joint review-panel arrangements, substitution of assessment processes, public registries, and related ministerial and regulatory powers. This Part amends the Yukon Environmental Assessment Act, including assessment steps, public participation, class screening, mediation, injunctions, and the environmental assessment registry. The Branch and responsible authorities must keep specified records in the Registry, and certain information must not be included if disclosure is prohibited. The Minister may create participant funding, and the Commissioner in Executive Council may repeal the Act in limited circumstances.
