Public Lands Licensing Order

Order Granting Authority to Execute Licences with Respect to Certain Public Lands This Order may be cited as the Public Lands Licensing Order. [Revoked, SOR/85-911, s. 1] The Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development is authorized to execute, on behalf of Her Majesty, licences, during pleasure, to erect, lay, maintain and operate telegraph, telephone and power transmission wires and cables and water, sewer, drain and oil pipes on, over, under and across canals, erect, place and maintain boathouses at sites on a canal from time to time designated by the Superintending Engineer of the said canal, moor or pull ashore at sites providing less than the normal navigation draft of the canal concerned, such sites being designated from time to time by the Superintending Engineer of the said canal, draw water from the said canals through pipes not exceeding 12 inches in diameter or to an extent not exceeding 1,500 gallons per minute, for domestic, agricultural and industrial, but not water power, purposes, draw water from canals for fire protection purposes, and discharge, into canals, water, drainage and effluents provided such effluents are, if and when deemed advisable by the General Superintendent of Canals, settled and or purified to his satisfaction, and to determine the rental therefor.
