About this statute

This Act implements the Canada–U.S. tax information exchange agreement, lets the Minister make necessary regulations, and requires notices about entry into force, amendments, and termination to be published in the Canada Gazette within 60 days. Reporting Canadian Financial Institutions must review account data for U.S. indicia, collect self-certifications in many cases, and treat certain accounts as U.S. Reportable Accounts unless an exception applies. This provision sets conditions for certain sponsored financial institutions and excludes listed Canadian accounts and products from being treated as U.S. reportable accounts.
