Order Transferring Food Inspection Activities from the Minister of National Health and Welfare to the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and Transferring Food Safety Policy Activities from the Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food to the Department of National Health and Welfare His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, pursuant to paragraph 2(a) of the Public Service Rearrangement and Transfer of Duties Act, hereby transfers, effective July 1, 1996: to the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food the powers, duties and functions of the Minister of National Health and Welfare relating to the inspection of food under the Food and Drugs Act; to the Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food the control and supervision of those portions of the public service in the Department of National Health and Welfare known as the Food Inspection Division for the Atlantic, Ontario, Quebec, Central and Western regions and the Food Inspection Programme Support Unit of the Food Directorate; and to the Department of National Health and Welfare the control and supervision of that portion of the public service in the Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food known as the Animal Health Bacteriology Centre of Expertise, Health of Animals Laboratory, Guelph, Ontario.
