Administrative Monetary Penalties (Motor Vehicle Safety) Regulations Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Transport, makes the annexed Administrative Monetary Penalties (Motor Vehicle Safety) Regulations under paragraphs 16.1(a)a and (b)a of the Motor Vehicle Safety Actb. S.C. 2018, c. 2, s. 15 S.C. 1993, c. 16 Definition of Act In these Regulations, Act means the Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Overview These Regulations complete the administrative monetary penalty scheme set out in the Act for the contravention of certain of its provisions and of certain provisions of its regulations and of the orders made under the Act. Designation — Act and Regulations A provision of the Act or of its regulations that is set out in column 1 of the schedule is designated as a provision the contravention of which may be proceeded with as a violation in accordance with sections 16.13 to 16.23 of the Act. Maximum amount payable The maximum amount payable in respect of a violation referred to in subsection (1) is in the case of an individual, the amount set out in column 2 of the schedule; and in the case of a corporation or a company, the amount set out in column 3 of the schedule. Designation — orders An order made under any of subsections 8.1(1), 10(2.1), 10(4), 10.1(4), 10.1(7) and 10.4(4), section 10.5, subsections 10.6(1), 10.61(1) and 13(1), section 13.1, paragraph 15(4)(e) and section 15.1 of the Act is designated as a provision the contravention of which may be proceeded with as a violation in accordance with sections 16.13 to 16.23 of the Act. in the case of an individual, $4,000; and in the case of a corporation or a company, $200,000. 90th day after publication These Regulations come into force on the 90th day after the day on which they are published in the Canada Gazette, Part II.
