The Governor General issues this constitutional amendment, which repeals section 24 of the Saskatchewan Act and applies the repeal retroactively to August 29, 1966.
Constitution Amendment, 2022 (Saskatchewan Act) Mary May Simon [L.S.] Canada By Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary May Simon, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada To all to whom these presents shall come, GREETING: Whereas section 43 of the Constitution Act, 1982 provides that an amendment to the Constitution of Canada may be made by proclamation issued by the Governor General under the Great Seal of Canada where so authorized by resolutions of the Senate and House of Commons and of the legislative assembly of each province to which the amendment applies; Whereas the Senate adopted a resolution on April 7, 2022 authorizing an amendment to the Constitution of Canada; Whereas the House of Commons adopted a resolution on February 9, 2022 authorizing an amendment to the Constitution of Canada; Whereas the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan adopted a resolution on November 29, 2021 authorizing an amendment to the Constitution of Canada; And whereas the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada has advised me to issue this proclamation; Now Know You that I do issue this proclamation amending the Constitution of Canada in accordance with the schedule. In testimony whereof, I have caused these Letters to be made patent and the Great Seal of Canada to be affixed to them. At Government House, in the City of Ottawa, this sixth day of May in the year of Our Lord two thousand and twenty-two. By Command, Section 24 of the Saskatchewan Act is repealed. The repeal of section 24 is deemed to have been made on August 29, 1966, and is retroactive to that date. Citation This Amendment may be cited as the Constitution Amendment, 2022 (Saskatchewan Act).
