Statute overview

About this statute

This Act sets rules for Canadian port authorities, including how they are created, governed, financed, audited, and supervised. This part requires port authorities and the examiner to give reports and notices, sets rules for land-use plans, fees, and traffic control, and gives the Minister and Governor in Council several powers over port property and port operations. The Minister and other authorities may manage Seaway property, set fees, enter agreements, appoint enforcement officers, and make regulations; operators and regulated persons must comply with transfer, reporting, safety, and enforcement rules. This provision sets the process for notices of violation, reviews, appeals, penalties, and some port-related employee benefit rules.
