This proclamation designates listed countries as designated states for the Visiting Forces Act, sets how the Act applies to those states, and defines a civilian component for a visiting force.

Proclamation Designating Certain Countries as Designated States Know You that We, and with the advice of Our Privy Council for Canada, do by this Our Proclamation designate the countries listed hereinafter as designated states for the purposes of the Visiting Forces Act: Barbados Brunei Cameroon Commonwealth of Australia Dominion of New Zealand Ethiopia Federal Republic of Germany France Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Guyana Iceland Italy Jamaica Japan Kingdom of Belgium Kingdom of Denmark Kingdom of Greece Kingdom of the Netherlands Kingdom of Norway Malawi Malaysia Niger Nigeria Portugal Republic of Ghana Republic of Kenya Republic of Korea Republic of Singapore Republic of Turkey Republic of Uganda Republic of Venezuela Republic of Zambia Swaziland Trinidad and Tobago United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland United Republic of Tanzania United States of America; declare that the Visiting Forces Act is applicable in whole to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, with the exception of Parts III and V thereof, to the Commonwealth of Australia and the Dominion of New Zealand, and with the exception of Part VI thereof, to all the other designated states; and designate as a civilian component of a visiting force from one of the countries listed hereinafter the civilian personnel accompanying that visiting force who are in the employ of that force and who are not stateless persons, nationals of any state that is not a designated state, or citizens of or ordinarily resident in Canada: United States of America.
