Statute overview

About this statute

This provision is the title and preamble of Law 38 of 1993, which unifies the fingerprint identification system and adopts the dental chart for identification purposes. For identification purposes, fingerprint identification is unified using the system used by the National Civil Registry, based on the ten-fingerprint record. The civil registry authority must take fingerprints for identity documents in a prescribed format and keep them in the central archive; state entities must unify fingerprint records.
