About this statute

The States Parties agree to adopt appropriate and effective measures to prevent and punish crimes against internationally protected persons, including diplomatic agents. This article defines “persona internacionalmente protegida” and “presunto culpable” for purposes of the Convention. Cada Estado parte debe establecer jurisdicción penal sobre ciertos delitos en casos de territorialidad, nacionalidad, protección internacional de la víctima y cuando no extradite al presunto culpable. Los Estados partes deben cooperar para prevenir los delitos del artículo 2. Un Estado parte debe informar a otros Estados interesados si cree que el presunto culpable huyó, y también debe compartir información sobre la víctima y las circunstancias cuando el delito afecte a una persona internacionalmente protegida.
