About this statute
This provision is the preamble of Law 244 of 1995, which states that the law sets terms for timely payment of severance pay for public servants and establishes sanctions. The employer or the entity that handles severance pay must issue the decision on a severance liquidation request within 15 business days if the request meets legal requirements. The State control bodies must ensure that officials paying public servants’ social benefits comply with the law, and they must also oversee that severance pay is processed in the order requests were filed.
