Statute overview

About this statute

This is the preamble identifying Law 486 of 1998, which sets rules on renewing the cédula de ciudadanía. The National Electoral Council must set the deadline for citizens to renew their identity cards, and the National Civil Registry official may arrange a public trust or fiduciary agreement to carry out the renewal process, with prior approval from the Council. This article says the law takes effect upon promulgation and makes a relevant amendment to Article 3 of Law 220 of 1995.
