Statute overview

About this statute

This preamble says the law approves the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods and explains its trade-related purpose. This provision says the Convention applies to sales contracts for goods between parties with establishments in different states, if those states are Contracting States or if private international law points to the law of a Contracting State. This provision says the Convention does not apply to certain sales, including personal, family, or household purchases, auctions, judicial sales, securities or money, certain vessels and aircraft, and electricity. This article treats certain supply contracts for goods to be manufactured or produced as sales contracts, unless the buyer must provide a substantial part of the materials. It also says the Convention does not apply where the supplier’s main duty is labor or other services. Esta disposición dice que la Convención solo regula la formación del contrato de compraventa y los derechos y obligaciones del vendedor y del comprador que nacen de ese contrato.
