About this statute

This preamble identifies Law 600 of 2000 as the Colombian Criminal Procedure Code. Todos los intervinientes en el proceso penal deben recibir un trato respetuoso acorde con la dignidad humana. For crimes committed after 1 January 2005, Law 906 of 2004 applies, subject to the implementation process in its Article 528. In criminal proceedings, constitutional and ratified international guarantees also apply, without prejudice to Article 94 of the Constitution. Toda persona tiene derecho a que se respete su libertad, y nadie puede ser molestado, privado de libertad o tener su domicilio registrado sin mandamiento escrito de autoridad judicial competente y motivos legales previos.
