Statute overview

About this statute

This provision states that the law treats the consumption and carrying of a personal dose of narcotic or dependency-producing substances as a contravention. No se debe consumir estupefacientes o sustancias que produzcan dependencia en presencia de menores de edad; la misma sanción aplica si ocurre en el domicilio con riesgo grave para la unidad y el sosiego de la familia. Whoever consumes, carries, or stores personal-dose narcotics or dependence-causing substances in educational establishments, nearby places, or a minor’s home is fined 4 to 8 minimum monthly legal wages. If drug use in front of minors occurs in a public place, open public place, or entertainment business, the Police must immediately remove the offender, seize the substance, and report the matter to the competent authorities. The fine mentioned in the earlier articles can be converted into arrest at a rate of 5 days of arrest for each legal monthly minimum wage imposed.
