About this statute

This law says it reforms and adds to the Penal Code and creates the criminal offense of human trafficking. This provision replaces Article 188 and makes migrant trafficking a criminal offence, with prison and a fine for those who help move people into or out of the country without meeting legal requirements and for profit or other gain. Creates Article 188-A on human trafficking and punishes anyone who carries out the listed conduct with prison and a fine. This article adds Article 188-B and increases penalties for certain offenses in Articles 188 and 188-A when aggravating circumstances are present. This article repeals Article 215 of Law 599 of 2000.
