About this statute

This provision introduces Law 759 of 2002 and states that the law is about complying with the convention on prohibiting the use, stockpiling, production, and transfer of anti-personnel mines and on their destruction, with rules to help eliminate anti-personnel mine use in Colombia. This article defines terms used in the law, including “Ottawa Convention,” “antipersonnel mine,” “mine,” “transfer,” “movement,” and related terms. It forbids employing, producing, selling, transferring, or storing antipersonnel mines or purpose-built delivery/dispersal vectors, and sets prison, fine, and public-rights disqualification penalties. Whoever promotes, helps, facilitates, encourages, or induces another person to take part in the activities covered by article 367-A is subject to prison and a fine. El Estado colombiano debe destruir todas las minas antipersonal y el Ministerio de Defensa debe presentar un plan de destrucción en seis meses; el Ministerio también queda autorizado para conservar, trasladar y retener ciertas minas en condiciones y límites específicos.
