About this statute

El preámbulo dice que el convenio busca prevenir actos ilícitos contra la seguridad de la navegación marítima y promover cooperación internacional. This provision defines “buque” for the Convention. This article says the Convention does not apply to warships, certain state-owned or state-used vessels serving auxiliary naval, customs, or police purposes, or vessels withdrawn from navigation or disarmed. Prohíbe cometer, intentar, ayudar o amenazar con actos que pongan en peligro la navegación segura de un buque. This provision says when the Convention applies to a ship and, in some cases, when it still applies even if paragraph 1 does not.
