El sitio de fundación de San Sebastián de Buenavista pasa a formar parte del Patrimonio Histórico y Cultural de la Nación, y ciertos bienes vinculados a ese lugar quedan sometidos a las reglas aplicables a ese patrimonio. Educational entities in San Sebastián de Buenavista must include civic-values training in curricula; students may use certain service-military obligations through literacy/basic-education/training programs; the municipality and the Nation may support related education, infrastructure, and social programs. El Gobierno Nacional debe adoptar un plan quinquenal, evaluar anualmente el cumplimiento de la ley y puede hacer apropiaciones presupuestales para financiar los proyectos previstos; además, las administraciones departamental y municipal deben gestionar y cofinanciar los programas. The municipal council may तयname the site for a port and shipyard, but only by agreement, at the mayor’s initiative, and after prior input from the entities that regulate navigation on the Magdalena River.
