About this statute

This provision identifies Law 1123 of 2007 as the Colombian Bar Disciplinary Code and says it contains the general principles section. Anyone involved in a disciplinary proceeding must be treated with the respect due to inherent human dignity. A lawyer may only be investigated and disciplined for conduct that was defined as an offence in the law in force when the conduct occurred.
