About this statute

This provision is the preamble to Law 1182 of 2008, which states that it establishes a special process for cleaning up title to real property. Certain holders of immovable property may regularize titles with false tradition through the special procedure, if the property is within the stated size limits and the tradition is not linked to violence, displacement, fraud, or illicit crops. Los Jueces Civiles y Promiscuos Municipales tienen competencia para tramitar el proceso especial de esta ley. This article lists the requirements for applying a special process to a property. A person with registered title in “falsa tradición” may file a written lawsuit, through a licensed lawyer, before the municipal civil judge for the property’s location to regularize title.
