Statute overview

About this statute

This law establishes a special verbal process to grant property titles to material possessors of small urban and rural real estate, and to remedy false title chains. The law’s purpose is to promote access to property through a special process for giving title to certain urban and rural real estate and for fixing titles involving false tradition. This article says a person may get a property title if they prove material possession of an urban or rural property and meet the law’s requirements. A person seeking title to a rural property through the special verbal process must prove continuous, public, peaceful possession for 5 years (regular possession) or 10 years (irregular possession), and the parcel must not exceed 1 UAF. To obtain title to an urban property under the special verbal process, the claimant must prove regular or irregular possession within the legal prescription terms, and the property must not exceed 250 smlmv in cadastral value.
