Statute overview

About this statute

This article says the convention’s terms follow the ITU Radio Regulations’ definitions, states that amateur and amateur-satellite services are radiocommunication services under those regulations and national rules, and defines “IARU” as the International Amateur Radio Union. This article sets how the IARP permit is issued, what it must contain, where it is valid, and when some radio amateurs are excluded. A State Party may decline, suspend, or cancel an IARP’s operation under its own law, and the IARP holder must use the required call sign format and follow the visited State Party’s authorized frequencies and regulations when transmitting there.
