About this statute

This preamble explains why the convention was adopted to promote decent work for domestic workers. This article defines “domestic work” and “domestic worker,” and says occasional or sporadic domestic work that is not a professional occupation is not considered domestic work for these purposes. Este artículo dice que el Convenio se aplica a todos los trabajadores domésticos, pero permite que un Miembro que lo ratifique excluya total o parcialmente ciertas categorías bajo condiciones y consultas previas. Miembros deben adoptar medidas para proteger y promover los derechos de los trabajadores domésticos, incluyendo libertad sindical, asociación, negociación colectiva y la prohibición del trabajo forzoso, infantil y la discriminación.
