About this statute
This law adopts the “Salas Amigas de la Familia Lactante” strategy for labor settings in territorial public entities and private companies. La ley adopta la estrategia de salas amigas para la familia lactante en entidades públicas y empresas privadas, y el uso de esas salas no libera al empleador de garantizar la hora de lactancia. Public and private entities must provide a suitable workplace space for breastfeeding women to express and safely store breast milk during the workday. The Ministry of Health and Social Protection must oversee and control workplace lactation rooms in public and private entities, set technical operating standards within 6 months of the law’s promulgation, and regulate their joint creation. The national, departmental, district, and municipal governments must promote campaigns and provide training to encourage breastfeeding among women workers in public and private entities.
