Statute overview

About this statute

This preamble states that Colombia and France seek to strengthen economic cooperation and create favorable conditions for mutual investment protection. This article defines key terms used in the agreement, including “investment,” “investor,” “returns,” and the territory covered by the agreement. The Agreement applies to investments made now or after it starts, but not to earlier disputes or events, illicit-origin investments, or tax matters. Each contracting party must encourage and admit investments made by investors from the other contracting party, and must give good-faith examination to certain entry, residence, work, or travel applications linked to an investment. Cada Parte Contratante debe dar trato justo y equitativo y protección y seguridad plenas a los inversionistas de la otra Parte y a sus inversiones en su territorio.
