Statute overview

About this statute

This preamble introduces the Paris Agreement and states its climate, sustainability, human rights, and public participation goals. This article says the agreement uses the definitions from Article 1 of the Convention, and separately defines “Convention,” “Conference of the Parties,” and “Party.” The Agreement’s purpose is to strengthen the global response to climate change and apply it in a way that reflects equity and common but differentiated responsibilities.
