Statute overview

About this statute

This law adopts measures related to debtors in the PRAN and FONSA programs. Some PRAN and FONSA debtors with balances under $50,000,000 as of 31 Dec 2016 may extinguish their obligations by 30 June 2019, subject to conditions set by the Ministry of Agriculture. Finagro, or whoever administers or holds the PRAN/FONSA obligations, must not pursue judicial collection until 30 June 2019; collection actions and prescription are suspended during that period. Finagro, o quien administre o sea acreedor de las obligaciones PRAN/FONSA, no puede iniciar cobro judicial si el capital total adeudado es de 10 salarios mínimos mensuales o menos; en ese caso solo procede el cobro prejudicial. Some debtors may have certain insurance premiums forgiven, and Finagro may keep taking group debtor life insurance on PRAN/FONSA obligations until 30 June 2019.
