About this statute
This law creates integration parks for children and adolescents nationwide and includes other provisions. This provision states that the law’s purpose is to improve parks and recreation infrastructure so children and adolescents with disabilities can access them. This article says the law applies to public park infrastructure and furnishings, and to public or private spaces used for recreation, play, and leisure, as well as sports venues. Amusement parks are excluded. This provision defines “Parques de Integración para Niños, Niñas y Adolescentes” as public or private spaces for recreation, sport, and free-time use with universal-design play structures, protection accessories, and signage for safe access and interaction by children and adolescents with disabilities. The national government, through the Ministry of Sport and with other listed bodies, must issue regulations on accessibility, quality, safety, and minimum infrastructure requirements for integration playgrounds within two years. Public or private parks for children and adolescents that are in planning or construction must adapt to accessibility requirements.
