This article states the law’s purpose: to remove barriers to support programs for comprehensive rehabilitation of people diagnosed with breast cancer and other cancers, and to improve response times for needed care in Colombia. Health providers and certain territorial entities must ensure cancer patients can access rehabilitation support programs. The Ministry of Health must also regulate maximum indicators and times for authorizing and scheduling treatment within six months. Health insurers, territorial entities, and health providers must promote cancer prevention and early detection; the Ministry must set technical guidelines and annual updates, and health authorities must run yearly campaigns in rural and hard-to-reach areas. Health telecommunication services should be used to facilitate telemedicine or similar support for people with cancer, especially psychological and mental health accompaniment.
