Statute overview

About this statute

This law sets policy guidelines for the prevention, early diagnosis, and comprehensive treatment of endometriosis, and for promoting awareness of the disease. This article says the law’s purpose is to set the public policy framework for prevention, access, detection, early diagnosis, studies, control, treatment, and necessary therapies for endometriosis, and to promote awareness. This article defines three terms: endometriosis, integral approach, and priority and continuous care. Endometriosis is declared a chronic, progressive and debilitating disease, and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection must regulate how cases are recognized for temporary or total incapacity.
