Statute overview

About this statute

Foreigners must have a valid passport or other valid travel document when entering the country, with some exemptions and ministerial/authority powers to approve or allow exceptions. Section 3 sets conditions for when certain travel documents count as travel ID for foreigners and how common passports, refugee travel documents, and alien passports are issued and validated. Udlændingestyrelsen may decide that a note covers additional countries. The provision sets conditions for revoking notes on refugee travel documents and alien passports, handling deposited passports, and processing certain applications through Udlændingestyrelsen or the police. If temporary border control is introduced at the border to another Schengen country, entry from and exit to that country must follow the same control measures as for a non-Schengen country.
