Statute overview

About this statute

This provision says the Film Act promotes film, cinema culture, and the Danish Film Institute’s work, and sets out the Institute’s tasks and board structure. Bestyrelsen can appoint up to 3 consultants and one children’s film consultant for the short- and documentary-film area, after a recommendation from the Short and Documentary Film Council. Bestyrelsen must nedsætte de råd, der er nævnt i provisionen. Film Institute consultants make the final artistic assessment of script and production proposals and give recommendations to the directorate on how available funds may be used. This section bars film consultants from having certain ties to film production, rental, or exhibition businesses, allows the Danish Film Institute to grant support of up to 60% for feature film production under ministerial rules, and sets rules for several advisory councils and a contact committee.
