About this statute

Loven says it applies to e-money issuers, payment service providers, and payment recipients, and that it implements parts of two EU directives. Certain branches, agents, and cross-border services from foreign firms licensed in another EU/EEA country are subject only to chapters 4–11, with specific exceptions. Erhvervsministeren kan give hel eller delvis dispensation fra flere bestemmelser og fastsætte supplerende regler for visse tjenester og betalingsinstrumenter. Elektroniske penge må kun udstedes i Danmark af de nævnte godkendte aktører, med forbehold for stk. 2. Betalingstjenester må kun udbydes i landet af visse tilladte virksomheder og nogle offentlige finansielle aktører; virksomheder med en begrænset tilladelse kan også udbyde dem. Kapitel 5-8 gælder for visse betalingstransaktioner med EU/EØS-tilknytning og flere undtagelser gælder ikke.
