Statute overview

About this statute

This excerpt sets general criminal-law rules on punishment, jurisdiction, defenses, attempt, complicity, corporate criminal liability, and sentencing/parole. Prøveløsladelse kræver bl.a. deltagelse i et kriminalforsorgsprogram, og den løsladte må ikke begå strafbart forhold i prøvetiden. Section 57 sets conditions for parole and gives the justice minister power to change them if the parolee breaches them. Section 57 says community-service conditions may not exceed two-thirds of the sentence, but the supervisory authority may extend them for special reasons up to the full sentence. It also says the justice minister, or someone authorized by the minister, decides parole after 12 years of a life sentence, subject to stated conditions. Conditional release can be made subject to program participation, no new offences during probation, and other fixed conditions; the section also sets fine and conversion rules and gives the Justice Minister rule-making powers.
