This provision sets the scope, key definitions, and core manufacturer/cooperation duties for electrical equipment covered by the regulation. Fabrikanten skal opbevare den relevante tekniske dokumentation og EU-overensstemmelseserklæringen i 10 år efter, at det elektriske materiel er bragt i omsætning. Manufacturers of electrical equipment must keep products compliant, label them properly, provide Danish instructions, and act quickly if non-compliance or risk is found. Importører af elektrisk materiel skal opfylde flere sikkerheds- og dokumentationskrav, herunder kontrol af fabrikantens dokumentation, mærkning, instruktioner, opbevaring og 10 års dokumentationsopbevaring. Importører må ikke bringe ikke-overensstemmende elektrisk materiel i omsætning, og skal straks handle og orientere myndighederne, hvis materiellet udgør en risiko. Distributører skal kontrollere visse krav, før de gør materiel tilgængeligt på markedet.
