Statute overview

About this statute

This provision says the law implements parts of several EU directives and applies to issuers of electronic money, payment service providers, and payment recipients, subject to stated exceptions. This section limits which chapters and sections apply to certain foreign payment and e-money providers, their branches and agents in Denmark, and to some cross-border services and related payment-data activities. Erhvervsministeren kan give dispensation og fastsætte supplerende regler for visse tjenester, betalingsinstrumenter og betalingstransaktioner. Elektroniske penge må kun udstedes i Danmark af de nævnte godkendte aktører. Payment services may only be offered in Denmark by certain authorised firms and public bodies. Chapter 5–8 applies to certain payment transactions based on where the payment service providers are established, the currency used, and whether the transaction is carried out in the EU or in a country with a financial agreement with the Union.
