Statute overview

About this statute

Aliens must have a valid passport or other valid travel document when entering the country, with some Nordic-country exemptions and special allowances. Section 3 says certain travel documents can count as travel documents for foreigners, and it sets conditions for group passports, issue, denial, validity, and withdrawal. Udlændingestyrelsen kan beslutte, at en påtegning skal dække flere lande end dem, der ellers er nævnt. The authority may lift certain endorsements on refugee travel documents and alien passports after 10 years, and it can require information or personal attendance in some application cases. If temporary border control is introduced at the border with another Schengen country, entry from and exit to that country must follow similar control measures as for a non-Schengen country.
