Statute overview

About this statute

This preamble says the regulation concerns veterinarians’ purchase, storage, use, supply, and prescribing of animal medicines, and sets out several defined terms. Section 39 restricts veterinary medicines and animal treatments, but allows several specified treatments under conditions and on the veterinarian’s responsibility. Dyrlæger may prescribe or dispense prescription medicines only within the animal types, supervision agreements, diagnosis conditions, and time limits stated here. Bestemmelsen begrænser dyrlægers brug, udlevering og ordination af visse lægemidler til kvæg og pattegrise og kræver bl.a. prøver, dokumentation og indberetninger. Dyrlæger may use certain medicines for horses only when no suitable medicine exists, but they must follow strict documentation, withdrawal-period, storage, labeling, and VetStat reporting rules.
