Statute overview

About this statute

This regulation applies to detainees held in remand prisons and sets who manages their custody and when transfers or notifications must happen. En varetægtsarrestant kan i visse tilfælde anbringes i en institution eller et hospital, og retten kan undtagelsesvis godkende anbringelse uden arrestantens samtykke. Kriminalforsorgsområdet must submit certain transfer cases to the Directorate for Prison and Probation when the detainee is linked to a gang/rocker group or is charged/convicted under the listed serious offences or sentences. A detained person must be informed about rights and duties after placement and must follow instructions from institution staff. Varetægtsarrestanter har flere rights in the institution, including access to community, influence, worship, pastoral conversation, personal property, publishing, work offer, leisure activities, and at least one hour daily outdoors, with some limits for security or isolation.
